Keyboard Glockenspiel Case

I have been trying to finish up the case design, but I have run into a problem.

To allow clearance for the hammers and dampers, the panel on top that supports the tone bars needs to be relieved quite a lot, and that means there's not really enough material to provide tone bar supports.

Perhaps what I need to do is chamfer the underside rather than put a pocket in it... but a chamfer is much more annoying to machine on the CNC router.

Instead of making this out of one part parts it may help to make it out of 2 parts that I can chamfer using the table saw or something?

Needs a bit more thought.

I really want to be able to screw the tone bar supports in and out to adjust their height, so having a good amount of material to screw into would be really helpful.
