< 2026-10-31 2026-11-02 >I'm going to attempt to redesign the X belt gripper in Solidcraft now. I'm hoping to make it somehow clamp closed instead of just relying on the tight fit holding the belt in place, but unsure how much space I have for a clamping bolt. Not very much.
The block is 14.25mm tall and the belt is 6mm tall and centred so there is 4.125mm either side of it.
New Solidcraft bug: moving the mouse left-and-right in Touchpad navigation mode seems to rotate around the global Z axis instead of the axis that is vertical on-screen. Same problem exists in normal navigation mode.

Never mind, it has an option for this, the default is just weird.
I do have little M2 nuts and bolts that I could use for this, let's give that a go.
Ah man, geometry bug:
I made the top-most circular cutout on its own and made the other 4 with a Pattern operation, but it has left a 0-thickness face there in places.
I wonder if I can make a minimal test case for this?
Perhaps a cube, hole all the way through centre, circular cutouts down one face with some of them intersecting the hole?
This broken model leaves only a tiny artifact after slicing in BambuStudio so I'm just going to print it as-is and then investigate the bug.
