Easy solution to the black keys going down too far: put 2 o-rings on the guide pin:

The reason it's a problem is because it means if you hold the key down then the hammer remains in contact with the tone bar, acting as a damper.

Next is that some of the black keys ever so slightly interfere with the overlapping white keys, which keeps them stuck down at full press. I think the solution will be to cut some of the white key plastic away to create clearance.

And there is still a bit of a rattley sound when the key is released, I wonder if I can do anything about that.

I did a tiny bit of work on this today.

Firstly drilled and tapped the engine mounting block M10 for chain tensioning bolts, and then drilled and welded a piece of angle iron for the studs/bolts to go through.

And then fitted the engine and reversing gearbox to think about how to tension the second chain.

I'm thinking a bracket on the chassis, and a bracket on the gearbox, and a rod linking them together, like this:

And the rod is threaded at the gearbox end so you use a pair of nuts there to set the length of this link to tension the chain.

I was also thinking about bodywork the other day, and it turns out that 5mm flexiply is actually less dense per unit area than 1.2mm aluminium. So making the bodywork out of flexiply is a no-brainer. It's easier to work with and lighter.
