Keyboard Glockenspiel
I have been having trouble getting the key lever to print. It is a long, thin, and tall part, which is pessimal for
warping. I'm now adding modelled "mouse ears" to see if it helps adhesion:
These greatly increase the surface area at the ends, and will get snapped off after printing. Annoying but maybe necessary.
That didn't work, but this did:
Having assembled it, we have:
- the holes in the case are OK, maybe could stand to be ever so slightly larger, need to be clearance fit
- the holes in the levers are too small, need to be push fit
- (but maybe for the holes I want to be drilling them rather than printing them)
- the damper hits the material at the bottom of the pivot, can't go down all the way
- the hammer hits the material at the bottom at the back, can't go up all the way
- the hammer is too light and does not always fall back down on its own
- both the hammer and the damper are too thick and can rub on the insides of the key lever
- the hammer wants provision for a metal ball
- the damper wants provision for a felt pad
- there is no provision for pivot pin or alignment pin
- needs a test stand to actuate the hammer properly, and hold a tone bar
- need to get 2mm brass rod or pins to make pivots out of, and 3mm or 4mm for pins
